The University of Bedfordshire’s School of Life Sciences is looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science to help design, deliver, and improve undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role requires a strong background in forensic biological sciences, court‑room evidence presentation, or related forensic casework experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deliver, and assess undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in forensic science.
- Develop and lead on course quality assurance, curriculum development, and continuous improvement.
- Manage personal teaching, research, knowledge‑exchange, and academic administration duties.
- Act as a Personal Tutor, providing pastoral care and student progress monitoring.
- Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students.
- Recruit, mentor, and support students to achieve high academic outcomes.
- Lead on curriculum development, outreach, and placement activities in partnership with local stakeholders.
- Participate in university and external committees, working groups, and professional networks.
- Identify and pursue research funding, mentorship, and publication opportunities.
- Support the School’s business plan through outreach, marketing, and recruitment initiatives.
- Travel inter‑campus, nationally, and internationally as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Doctorate in Life Sciences or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Master’s degree in Forensic Science, Biology, or a related discipline.
- Evidence of experience in forensic biological science, forensic casework, or expert witness activity.
- Proven teaching ability at a higher‑education level.
- Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and quality assurance for higher education programmes.
- Strong research record relevant to forensic science, with experience in grant application and publication.
