We are seeking a proactive, confident and motivated Student Experience Manager to play a key role in shaping and enhancing the learning experience across the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
About the role
Working closely with both academic and professional services staff, you will contribute to the development and delivery of strategy, policies, and processes that strengthen student engagement, support a thriving student community and excellent educational experience. In this influential role, you will ensure that students are aware of and have access to the full range of welfare services, wellbeing initiatives, and community-building activities available to them. You will help establish and maintain effective channels for capturing the student voice, and you will champion opportunities for co-creation, enrichment, and extracurricular involvement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, evaluation, and continual improvement of initiatives that support an outstanding student experience across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Lead and manage the Student Support Officer team, ensuring consistent, effective, and compassionate support for students across the Faculty.
- Increase visibility and accessibility of welfare and wellbeing support, while fostering a strong sense of community and belonging among students.
- Act as a strong advocate for students, ensuring their perspectives and needs are represented in Faculty decision-making and discussions.
- Analyse and evaluate student feedback and engagement data—including student surveys, module evaluations, focus groups, league table metrics, student progression and student outcomes.
- Provide high-quality insights and recommendations to Faculty leadership to guide decision-making and strategic planning.
- Promote and facilitate access to extracurricular and co-curricular activities that build community and enhance learning.
- Work collaboratively and proactively with academic and professional services colleagues to ensure a cohesive and student-centred approach.
About you
You will be an experienced higher-education professional with a strong understanding of student support, engagement, and enhancement practices. You will bring:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience interpreting data to inform improvements.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to drive change.
- Experience managing people or teams within a student-facing environment.
- A commitment to improving the student experience and promoting inclusivity, wellbeing, and academic success.
This is a part-time role, working 29.2 hours per week (0.8 fte).
