We are looking for a motivated individual to join our busy Placements Team!

About the role

Your role will be focussed on supporting our BSc and MArch students to find work placements that are part of their course. For the next few years, Architecture students complete 3 to 6 month thin-sandwich placements but we will be transitioning to 12 month thick-sandwich placements longer term. You will work closely with academic colleagues in Architecture, in particular our Professional Studies Advisor and visiting tutor team.

You will play a vital role in maintaining strong professional relationships with current placement providers in an industry facing role whilst also proactively sourcing new placement opportunities. You will act as a point of contact for students, academic staff and architecture practices, dealing with enquiries and providing guidance. You will liaise with architecture practices and connect them with our students for portfolio reviews, practice interviews and organise networking events. Placement Officers host architecture practices on campus and build strong relationships with them. This is a rewarding role supporting high achieving students at the start of their architecture careers.

About you

A major part of the role is to provide employability support to students on a one-to-one basis and good written English skills are essential. In addition, you will be required to deliver skills workshops and talks and must be a confident, lively presenter to communicate to the student audience. With excellent organisational skills, you will demonstrate a good use of initiative and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise a high workload. Attention to detail and good administrative record keeping are essential. We work together as a team to achieve overall results and you will need to be a good team player. An interest in learning about and working with the architecture industry would be beneficial; however, we would not expect prior knowledge and you will be provided with in-depth training from both the Head of Placements and also the Professional Studies Advisor.

Further information

This is a part-time role, working 22 hours per week. The Placement team follow a hybrid working pattern but are a student-facing team with 2 out of 3 days on campus in University term times; 1 out of 3 on campus during University holidays. The ideal start date would be early October 2026.

  • Generous employer contributory pension schemes
