The University of Bath, School of Management is ranked among the top UK business schools, with a renowned reputation for business education and international research. We are looking to appoint a full-time MSc Careers Manager. The post-holder will form a key part of the School of Management’s Employability Team, with specific responsibility for the School’s MSc Careers Team. This is a critical role, supporting the Head of Employability to deliver on MSc careers in support of the School’s commitment to postgraduate student employability.

The MSc Careers Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the MSc Careers Team, overseeing its activities and contributing to its strategic leadership. Excellence in delivery requires extensive Professional Services support and expertise that tailors careers support and guidance to the distinctive needs and aspirations of the School’s MSc students. Built upon detailed knowledge of the career progression landscape for MSc graduates and an ability to work collaboratively with students to explore varied opportunities, MSc Careers provides comprehensive, up-to-date, individualised careers guidance and support across the School's highly differentiated MSc programmes.

The post-holder works alongside academics with careers support duties for the School's MSc students or those in comparable roles. Such roles are held by the Associate Dean for Education, the Director of Teaching for Postgraduate Programmes, and the Directors of Studies for the MSc programmes. Line management forms a major part of the role, dealing with student and company issues that arise, plus managing staff development, annual leave, sickness, and other operational responsibilities.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage the MSc Careers Team, designing, managing, and delivering careers support including credit-bearing and co-curricular experiential learning activities to enhance employability.
  • Develop an understanding of changing student and employer requirements and use that to continually refine and improve career support and employability offerings.
  • Lead acquisition of information and feedback on employer recruitment processes, particularly to reflect the origin of our students.
  • Maintain close liaison with the University Careers Service and other external agencies and organisations.

About You

You Will Bring:

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to use initiative, multi-task, and prioritise effectively.
  • A strong interest and understanding of global working practices and higher education institutions.
  • Diplomacy, tact, and cultural awareness to develop strong links and provide embedded and co-curricular employer opportunities in the UK and internationally.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills are needed to lead and support the School of Management’s MSc Careers Team.
  • Significant recent experience of careers guidance or careers development learning programmes in a business or education environment.
  • Excellent training skills, including the ability to design and deliver innovative and appropriate workshops to large and small groups.
  • A good understanding of the graduate labour market and recruitment and selection processes.
