This is an exciting opportunity to lead the policy engagement and communications work of the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) at the University of Bath. IPR is a leading public policy research institute in the UK. In addition to research, postgraduate teaching and doctoral supervision, it delivers a suite of Policy Fellowship programmes for senior civil servants and public officials, Masterclasses for the UK government's Policy Profession, and training and development activities for University of Bath academics, to enable them to engage with policymakers and maximise the impact of their research. It organises an exciting programme of public events and policy seminars, publishes reports and articles, and hosts a widely read policy blog.

About The Role

The post holder will lead on the strategic management and delivery of the IPR's policy engagement programmes and hold overall responsibility for the IPR's events, publications and communications. They will be responsible for ensuring that the IPR's policy engagement activities remain at the forefront of the UK's higher education policy institute landscape; that the IPR offer to policymakers is cutting-edge, relevant and rewarding; that the knowledge and expertise of academics at the University of Bath is brought to bear on local, regional, national and international policymakers; and that the IPR's events and communications are engaging, well attended and widely read.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a real drive for ensuring that research is used in policymaking and with an enthusiasm for brokering meaningful interaction and knowledge exchange between academics and policymakers - at all levels, from the local to the international. This is not an academic post, but we are looking for a leader with expertise and understanding of public policymaking, the ability to engage with academic research, and a keen eye for effective marketing and communications.
