We are seeking a resourceful and capable applicant who can work in partnership with students, academics and professional services staff. About us You will be joining the Careers team at a time when we are looking to build on our firm foundations and really position ourselves as future-focused, committed to empowering and enabling our students to become career confident, with a sense of purpose, ambition, and future direction. Careers is entering a new phase, working with partners across the University (and externally) to expand and enhance our employability offer. With impressive graduate outcomes, a strong focus on employability, and a reputation for academic excellence, we are the university of choice for many students. We are looking for someone to help us continue this journey and prepare our students for future success. Careers Consultants are a trusted source of careers and employability expertise, working confidently across boundaries, with all cohorts and disciplines. You will be aligned with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences initially, although specialisms and caseloads are subject to change. You will offer a full range of career advice and guidance to students, through a range of modes and delivery, including 1:1, group and technology-enabled methods. About you Youll be a qualified and experienced Careers Professional, with experience in HE, understanding the demands of a highly motivated, high calibre and ambitious cohort. You will: – bring a positive attitude, and can-do mindset – be able to thrive in a changing environment – have a track record in building strategic relationships – demonstrate highly refined communication and interpersonal skills A commitment to excellence is a must and you will also exhibit strong relationship management and networking skills. It is imperative that you are willing and able to work with new and emerging technology and innovate in your practice. Further information This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week, but work in the evening is sometimes required to deliver appointments, group sessions and host panel or employer-led events. Participation in University Open Days is expected, which sometimes take place over a weekend and there may also be a need to support events at weekends, and conferences may require an overnight stay.
