We are seeking a qualified and experienced librarian to fill this Subject Librarian vacancy within the Academic Services section of the University of Bath Library.

About the role

Working within the Library’s Science subject team, you will provide exemplary services as librarian for departments within the Faculty, currently as librarian for the Department of Life Sciences. You will:

  • Have responsibility for the provision of library induction, information skills teaching, liaison, enquiry handling and the development of library collections, to support all library users within your subject areas.
  • Manage expenditure of the Library materials budgets for your areas, taking responsibility for decisions on purchase and subscription to the electronic and print materials required to support teaching, learning and research.
  • Liaise with and build excellent professional relationships with staff and students in your departments, participating in appropriate department meetings, to gain a full understanding of their resource and service needs.
  • Work closely with the Science Faculty Librarian to ensure co-ordination of services and equity of provision across the Faculty, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the Library to provide and develop Library support.
  • Liaise with publishers and professional groups, to ensure you keep up to date with developments in resource provision and new publishing models, and obtain best value for money in purchases and subscriptions.
