We are looking for a confident and organised individual to join our UK Student Recruitment Team as a Student Recruitment Assistant.

About the role

You will represent the University of Bath at recruitment events in schools, colleges and at large-scale higher education exhibitions across the UK. You’ll provide information, advice and guidance to prospective students considering higher education, mainly through representing the University at Higher Education Fairs whilst also delivering some talks and sessions on topics such as choosing Bath or making a competitive university application. Alongside in-person activity, you’ll help coordinate a programme of digital recruitment events such as subject-specific webinars for prospective students, working with colleagues across the department and wider university to deliver engaging online content. You’ll also support the smooth running of our wider recruitment operations, helping to maintain relationships with targeted schools and colleges and ensuring events, communications and processes run efficiently throughout the year. This is an exciting opportunity to be out on the road representing Bath, helping more students from under-represented and priority groups to learn about higher education and to see Bath as a place where they can belong and succeed.

About us

The Student Recruitment and Admissions Department plays a central role in attracting and supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds to apply to the University. This role sits within the UK Student Recruitment Team, which works closely with our Widening Access colleagues to deliver programmes and events across the country and online. You will be joining a collaborative and friendly team who are passionate about making higher education accessible to all.

About you

You should have direct experience of the UK secondary education system and experience of delivering presentations or public speaking to diverse audiences. You will:

  • be a confident communicator who enjoys meeting new people and is comfortable presenting to groups of young people, parents and teachers.
  • have excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities, often working independently as the sole representative of the University at events across the UK.
  • have a good eye for detail, strong IT skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure will be essential.

Experience of student recruitment, outreach or working with young people would be an advantage, but enthusiasm, initiative and professionalism are equally important.

This is a part-time role working 29.2 hours (4 days) per week. We offer flexible working arrangements and a supportive environment where your ideas and contributions are valued. Extensive travel around the UK is expected with some evening and/or weekend work involving overnight stays, during peak times, for which time off in lieu is provided. You’ll therefore need a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

We consider ourselves to be a university where difference is celebrated, respected and encouraged. We have an excellent international reputation with staff from over 60 different nations and have made a positive commitment towards gender equality and intersectionality receiving a Silver Athena SWAN award. We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and students and encourage applications from all genders, backgrounds, and communities, particularly from under-represented groups, and value the positive impact that will have on the university. We are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, staff, and community by reinforcing our Safer Recruitment commitment.
