About The Department

Campus Services supports University of Bath life by housing over 5,000 students during the academic year and hosting external organisations for conferences, summer camps and away‑day events during the summer. Established in August 2022, the department brings together all University facilities teams to deliver high‑quality services that enhance the experience of students, staff, visitors and commercial customers, and support excellence in education and research. With over 400 staff, Campus Services includes Student Living, Hospitality, Retail, Cleaning and Portering, Security, Postal Services and Landscaping. Over the past year, we have continued to develop our services to meet the University’s evolving needs.

About The Role

As a Porter you’ll have a key role in helping students transition from living at home to fully independent living and ensuring all our accommodation users have the best possible experience when staying with us.

Responsibilities

  • Removing waste and recycling from accommodation areas
  • Restocking essential customer supplies in accommodation areas
  • Collecting and sorting linen and bedding
  • Reporting maintenance issues
  • Ensuring health and safety guidance is followed
  • Acting as the face of the department, engaging with students and visitors

This is a permanent, full‑time role, working 36.5 hours per week from 9:00am to 5:20pm. The position follows a 5‑over‑7 working pattern, with an expectation to work weekends on a rotational basis. Weekend rota requirements apply mainly during the summer peak period, from May to September.

In addition to the great benefits Campus Services offers, we can offer you a £1,000 bonus. This is payable the month after successfully passing your six months’ probation. Please note this bonus is pro rata for part time and FTC positions. This role is also eligible for the Campus Services Refer a Friend bonus.
