The Department for Health at the University of Bath invites applications for the position of Lecturer. Our Department and University has achieved an excellent reputation for teaching and we are seeking a high quality candidate to further enhance the academic and employability skills of our students. We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated and collegiate Lecturer to assist in the delivery of our undergraduate Sport and Exercise Science and Health and Exercise Science programmes. This will involve teaching small groups, lecturing, delivery of practical classes and supporting students on undergraduate/postgraduate courses as well as administrative, assessment and exam duties as required. This post will support learning and teaching in the subject area of applied biomechanics particularly related to sport.

About the role

You will join a team of lecturers delivering a suite of units across our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught degrees delivering content primarily to students studying a BSc/MSci Sport and Exercise Science or BSc Health and Exercise Science. Our teaching is primarily delivered face to face, supported by online content. We are looking for applicants with the expertise and track record to teach advanced topics in biomechanics (such as motion analysis techniques and inverse dynamics) and how these are applied in sport; alongside more general anatomy and biomechanics topics. The role will include supervision of undergraduate research projects and involvement in the academic and pastoral support of students. The successful candidate will design and deliver teaching materials for lectures, seminars, tutorials, and laboratory classes (as appropriate), design and mark assessments and provide feedback to students. They will be educating and inspiring some of the brightest students in the country, delivering an engaging experience and a supportive programme.

About you

Our ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline, along with a UG degree or equivalent experience. They will be a collegiate, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a commitment to excellence in higher education and providing positive learning experiences for our students. We are seeking someone who:

  • is highly competent and confident in the use of Matlab and software packages used in the field of sport biomechanics.
