This role is eligible for the Campus Services New Starter Bonus (£1,000) and Campus Services Refer a Friend bonus. Please note this bonus is pro rata for part-time positions.
About the role
The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of dining and beverage options. The West Hospitality team have two permanent vacancies for Food & Beverage Assistants within our catering operation. In this role, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the catering operation and deliver a consistently high standard of customer service.
Key duties include:
- Taking customer orders
- Serving food and drink
- Operating tills
- Stocking food stations
- Assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas
These roles involve early mornings, evenings and weekend working on a 5-out-of-7-day rota, with straight shifts only. Part-time role: 25 hours per week, full-year (52-week) contract. Full-time term-time only role: 36.5 hours per week across 42 weeks of the year, with fixed non-working weeks (typically Christmas, Easter and August). Training and uniforms are provided, and there are opportunities for development and progression within the department.
About you
You bring strong customer-service experience and take pride in delivering an excellent standard of support in a customer-focused environment. Experience in the hospitality industry is desirable. You work confidently as part of a team and remain calm, professional and organised during busy, intense periods. You are reliable, adaptable and able to work daytime shifts, particularly during weekday lunchtime hours, to meet the needs of the business.
