This role requires an exceptional academic who has a high potential for national/international research impact, within at least one of the priority areas of:

  • Clean Energy Industries: Hydrogen and biogas fuels, energy networks, environmental economics, green finance, ethical supply chains, and behavioural change.
  • Digital and Technologies: AI and machine learning, cybersecurity, spatial intelligence, robotics, human-computer interaction, and digital transformation.
  • Life Sciences: Drug discovery, diagnostics, pain research, preventative healthcare, wearable biosensors, and public health surveillance.
  • Professional and Business Services: Retail innovation, fintech, smart logistics, digital policy, and inclusive growth.

This is a research-intensive role, with the expectation of significant contributions to research excellence and innovation as well as contributing to teaching within your associated Department. Successful applicants will be required to relocate to the UK. Bath offers a reimbursement scheme to help towards relocation and visa costs.

  • A developing track record of internationally excellent research achievement with a high potential for national/international impact.
  • A clear and feasible research vision aligned to at least one of the priority areas of clean energy, digital and technologies, life sciences, or professional and business services.
  • Potential to secure funding and build interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Potential to build links with external organisations, such as the commercial and public sector to drive the translation of research into innovation and to deliver real-world impact.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring.

Salary & Eligibility

Salary: £47,389 to £61,759. The salary range includes three discretionary points which are only applied for starting salaries in highly exceptional situations. This opportunity is open to international applicants currently living and working outside the UK (for at least the past 24 months), in accordance with the funding requirements of the UK Government’s Global Talent Fund Scheme.
