This is an exciting position, with a focus on pastoral care, at an international University based in the City of Bath for any applicant that is looking to help and support students and staff within a Higher Education setting. The role is strongly customer focused and you must demonstrate an ability to perform well within a team and also be able to demonstrate the use of initiative whilst working alone when dealing with emergencies, medical first aid response, alarm activations and many other reported incidents. Together with a team of security staff, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout both campus and City campus, including student accommodation and other University Buildings.

We’re looking for someone who can make a real difference to our students. You’ll be someone who:

  • Communicates clearly and genuinely with students and colleagues
  • Provides understanding, support, and outstanding customer service, especially in a pastoral care role
  • Is confident using computers and can write clear, accurate reports
  • Can plan and prioritise when things get busy or conflicting demands arise
  • Holds a valid UK driving licence for manual vehicles, due to the role
  • Stays calm and effective when dealing with challenging situations
  • Enjoys working as part of a team to solve problems together

The position covers the main University campus and City campus buildings off site. The basic working week is of 38.5 hours (which includes 2 hours contracted overtime). These hours will be worked on a rotating shift basis cover 24/7 365 days of the year and attracts 15% shift allowance, plus 10% market supplement. The appointment will be made subject to a Basic Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check being obtained.

This role is eligible for a £1,000 bonus, payable the month after successfully passing your six months’ probation. Please note this bonus is pro rata for part time and FTC positions.
