Accommodation Security Officer
This is an exciting position at an international university based in the City of Bath, supporting both students and staff within a higher education setting. The role is strongly customer‑focused. You must demonstrate the ability to perform well within a team, use initiative when working alone, and respond effectively to emergencies, medical first aid, alarm activations and many other reported incidents.
About The Role
With a team of security staff you will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout the main university campus, the City campus and student accommodation. You will maintain a secure and welcoming atmosphere in all university buildings, making the campus safe for everyone.
What We Offer
The basic working week is 38.5 hours, including 36.5 hours of core shifts and 2 hours of contracted overtime. Hours are worked on a rotating 24/7 shift basis with a 15% shift allowance. During staff shortages you may be required to cover different shifts with other Campus teams.
About You
- Communicates clearly and genuinely with students and colleagues
- Provides understanding, support, and outstanding customer service, especially in a pastoral care role
- Is confident using computers and can write clear, accurate reports
- Can plan and prioritise when demands arise during busy periods
- Holds a valid UK driving licence for manual vehicles
- Stays calm and effective when dealing with challenging situations
- Enjoys working as part of a team to solve problems together
