Job Description: The Controller-UAB Callahan Eye oversees financial operations ensuring the accurate preparation and analysis of financial reports, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Works collaboratively with various departments to manage and optimize financial performance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- The preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensuring all financial reports are prepared in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and healthcare regulations.
- Variance analysis and recommending corrective actions to senior leadership.
- The development and preparation of the annual budget.
- Accurate forecasting and financial projections to senior leadership.
- Budget adherence and working with department heads to manage costs effectively.
- The day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Managing the financial staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Proper accounting of revenue and expenses including reimbursement from insurance providers and government programs.
- Maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
- Compliance with healthcare-specific regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and other healthcare reimbursement standards.
- Overseeing internal and external audits ensuring timely completion and compliance with financial regulations.
- Conducting financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Providing financial findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Managing capital expenditures and return on investment for major projects.
- Ensuring cash flow to maintain sufficient funds for operations and capital projects.
- Collaborating with the CFO to optimize cash management and investment strategies.
- Fostering a collaborative high-performance culture within the finance department.
- Supporting strategic financial planning and growth initiatives with leadership.
- Providing financial insight and guidance on new healthcare services, partnerships, and acquisitions.
