WBHM, Birmingham's public radio station, is looking for a driven Community Corporate Sponsorship Officer who thrives on cultivating and building relationships. In this revenue-generating role, you'll connect mission-minded businesses and foundations with WBHM's trusted journalism, helping partners elevate their brands while supporting public radio that matters. You'll prospect new leads, create smart, value-aligned sponsorship solutions, manage a strong CRM-based pipeline, and champion the WBHM brand across the community. Is responsible for raising significant funds through developing relationships with corporations, local businesses, and non-profit organizations for WBHM operations, programming, initiatives, and events.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Grows sponsorship at WBHM through the process of prospecting, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major corporate donors, local businesses, and non-profit organizations to become new sponsors for WBHM.
  • This work is achieved through a combination of cold calling, e-mail, virtual engagement, as well as significant in-person engagement.
  • Propose, draft, and create proposals for corporations, local businesses, and non-profit organizations based on their individual needs, budget, and target audience.
  • Manages a significant portfolio and pipeline of corporate and foundation prospects in the renewal process for retention and continued support of WBHM.
  • Works to maintain sustained renewal of prior support while seeking strategic opportunities with clients to increase growth in support year-over-year through new packages and opportunities.
  • Works with clients to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with corporate, local, and nonprofit sectors.
  • Works in conjunction with department supervisor to maintain a mix of philanthropic event and program sponsorships, as well as broadcast and digital sponsorships.
  • This includes any necessary collaboration across departments to develop funding opportunities for corporate donors, local businesses, and non-profit organizations via program sponsorship, special events, and community partnerships.
  • Produces templates as needed for business support.
  • Analyze audience data as pertains to sponsorship, as well as developing campaigns with Corporate Support Director to reach our target audiences and businesses.
  • Maintains consistent communications with department supervisor on all business matters, including, but not limited to: review of payment and billing status for clients, monthly review of accounts as necessary, errors, corrections, etc.
  • Expected to attend sponsorship and other necessary meetings as determined by supervisor.
  • Responsible for entry of all contracts into traffic software in a timely and efficient manner and securing signed contracts for audit purposes.
  • Assists from a sponsorship perspective for station marketing and development to expand brand exposure and audience engagement.
  • May assist in development of marketing content, on-air promotional sponsorship scripts, and other assets as necessary with supervisor approval.
  • Assists and participates in WBHM community and audience engagement events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range $45,395 - $65,000

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, Media, Communications, Sales, Marketing or a related field and two (2) years related work experience. Alabama Driver’s License OR state ID required within 30 days of hire.
