The University of Aberdeen is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and dependable cleaner to join our friendly team of dedicated cleaning staff who take great pride in providing high standards of service across the University estate. The Cleaning Services team consists of approximately 85 staff and works within the Facilities Services section of the Directorate of Estates and Facilities. The team provides a comprehensive cleaning service across the University campuses and ensures a clean, hygienic and safe environment for students, staff and visitors. Activities extend across academic and administrative buildings on the Estate, including libraries, sports facilities, and support for institutional events and other on‑campus activities. Post holders may be based at any premises the University occupies and may be required to work at any University location; a flexible approach is important.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out cleaning duties across University premises to maintain a clean, hygienic and safe environment.
  • Work as part of a team and independently, with excellent timekeeping and communication skills.
  • Support events and student activities as required.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Essential: reliable, good timekeeping, and ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Ideal: experience in the cleaning industry and familiarity with Health and Safety procedures, including COSHH and manual handling.

Details:

  • Hours of work: 20 hours per week, mainly Monday – Friday 06:00–10:00, with occasional weekend work to support events and student activity.
  • Salary: Grade 1, £24,554 per annum pro rata (£12.93 per hour) for the number of hours worked.
  • Contract end date: Successful candidates will be expected to carry out duties until approximately 31 December 2026.
