Job overview
Our Occupational Therapy Service has recently been redesigned to create a more sustainable workforce, better equipped to manage the complex needs of our patients while allowing experienced therapists an opportunity to develop their specialist role and contribute to service developments.
The ideal candidate for this fixed-term contract will have a passion for Occupational Therapy within an acute physical health environment at a busy NHS Foundation Trust; excellent communication skills and enthusiasm, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of the wider MDT.
You will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, advice, treatment, and evaluation of patients referred to the Acute Inpatient Occupational Therapy Service, including patients with varying presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
Main duties of the job
- To provide specialist occupational therapy interventions using an evidence-based, flexible, and patient-centred approach.
- To perform a specialist occupational therapy role for patients referred to the clinical team with complex health and social care needs.
- To provide supervision and leadership for relevant junior members of occupational therapy staff.
- To participate in planning, development, and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated specialist team.
- To provide supervision and training for students on practice placement.
Experience/Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Clinical experience in areas relating to specialty/post or able to demonstrate acceptable equivalent
- Proven experience as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience of teaching in a clinical setting
Skills
- Knowledge of the OT role and relevant standardised OT assessments and interventions.
- Ability to establish and maintain communication on complex topics.
- Ability to analyse complex assessment outcomes and offer solutions.
- Ability to organise and respond effectively to complex information.
- Assessment for and prescription of environmental adaptations and equipment provision.
- Presentation and training skills.
