Are you an experienced and motivated technician looking for a new challenge in Aseptic Services? We are seeking a dedicated Band 7 Technician Team Leader to join our dynamic Aseptic Team at Worthing and St. Richard's Hospitals. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and quality control of aseptic products, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and leading a team of skilled technicians, Science Manufacturing Technicians (SMTs), and assistants.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the aseptic services unit, including the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of aseptic products within the Aseptic Units at Worthing and St. Richard's Hospitals.
  • Ensure that all aseptic preparations meet the highest standard of quality and safety.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), section 10 and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Lead and supervise a team of technicians, SMTs, and assistants, providing training, support, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with service users and other healthcare professionals to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of aseptic services.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed.

  • Oversee the aseptic preparation process, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and support to the technician team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct regular internal audits with the Pharmacy Quality and Projects Manager to identify and address any issues in the aseptic preparation process.
  • Support the development and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the Aseptic team.
  • Manage staffing schedules and assignments to ensure adequate coverage and efficiency.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and stakeholders to ensure the availability of necessary materials and resources.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in aseptic technology and best practices, incorporating them into the unit's operations.

Person specification

  • Professional Registration: Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Experience/Qualifications: BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent; further post-graduate qualifications in management or sufficient experience gained in practice to equate to this level of training; expert knowledge and experience of pharmacy aseptic services; PIPC accredited.
  • People Management and Development: Experience of management of a team of staff; experience of leading change management; experience of training other members of staff within an aseptic environment.
  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles; evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
  • Specific Requirements: Able to work across two key sites on a regular basis.
