An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced critical care nurse to join the Worthing critical care team. We are a friendly 12-bedded Critical Care unit caring for both Level 3 ITU patients and Level 2 HDU patients.

As a Critical Care Team Leader, you will provide professional leadership to the critical care team in collaboration with the Matron and other senior nurses. Your role will promote the delivery of professional nursing care to acutely and critically ill patients, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained for patients and their carers while in critical care.

You will provide clinical and professional leadership in the care of critically ill patients to a team of nurses. You will be responsible for ensuring their ongoing professional development and education, working alongside the Critical Care Matron and Practice Educator. Additionally, you will act as a resource for trust staff regarding the care of critically ill patients. You will also have management responsibilities for the Critical Care department, including the efficient and effective use of resources. Your goal will be to ensure the highest standard of nursing care is delivered to all critically ill patients, promoting evidence-based practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading with the Critical Care Matron in setting standards and guidelines for best practice within Critical Care.
  • Acting as an expert clinical practitioner, providing high-quality nursing care at a senior level.
  • Identifying, undertaking, and evaluating innovations and developments within Critical Care.
  • Supporting and motivating staff emotionally and physically through service redesign and Agenda for Change initiatives.
  • Developing staff wellbeing plans, conducting regular 1:1s, and ensuring quality through STAM and appraisal monitoring.
