Overview

Working alongside the other medical secretaries you will provide a comprehensive secretarial role to the Consultants and doctors. This includes audio typing letters, referrals, reports, etc., working to deadlines in order to support our patients.

You will be based in the Louisa Martindale Building at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Excellent IT skills and English are essential. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with NHS colleagues, patients and relatives by email, telephone and face to face.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support to Consultants and doctors, including audio typing of letters, referrals and reports.
  • Prioritise and manage workload to meet deadlines and support patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with NHS colleagues, patients and relatives by email, telephone and face-to-face.
  • Work as part of the Rheumatology secretarial team based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years\’ experience in a secretarial/administrative role; medical secretarial experience preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent IT skills and fluent in English; ability to type accurately and quickly with medical terminology knowledge.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent telephone manner and ability to prioritise competing demands.
