Trauma Senior Clinical Fellowship

Stoke-on-Trent Full-Time No home office possible
U

The department currently has 36 orthopaedic surgeons providing elective and trauma services, serving a population of 3 million people. UHNM’s Major Trauma Centre sits within the Trauma Directorate. The service has a bespoke Acute Rehabilitation and Trauma Unit (ARTU) and works with the North Midlands and North Wales Trauma Network, supporting five trauma units and three local emergency departments. UHNM is a specialist hospital that can care for the more severely injured patients, with consultant availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the skills to treat complex and multiple injuries.

The Fellow will be part of the Trauma Firm, involved in the management of trauma patients and the provision of care for all orthopaedic trauma cases. All trauma subspecialties are available on site—including pelvic surgery, limb reconstruction, ortho‑plastics and neck of femur—and the post will support teaching and research commitments.

The Trauma Fellow will have the opportunity to rotate between each specialty—including pelvic trauma, ortho‑plastics and limb reconstruction. Allocation of the subspecialties will depend on the educational needs, and there will also be time in other departments to gain an improved understanding of critically‑injured patients and their needs.
