Theatres at County consists of a suite of 7 theatres, a modular unit and an ambulatory unit which cover many different specialities.

To supervise the Theatre porters, ensuring the department is adequately covered to enable the efficient, timely and safe transport of patients and all required equipment to and from the department.

To support the operating department multidisciplinary team and, under direct supervision, contribute towards the care of the ambulatory, peri and postoperative patient. The post holder will be required to transmit information, transport items and patients within and beyond the operating Department complex. They will be responsible for the general cleanliness of the department and the specific cleaning of the operating theatres.

The following list is an example only and not an exhaustive list.

Day to day supervision and training for the porters including daily work allocation.

Collect patients from wards and theatres.

Assist with transferring patient from bed and trolleys onto operating table.

Deliver and replace medical gas cylinders as required.

The patients\’ dignity is maintained at all times.

The patient is offered appropriate support and reassurance during the transfer or move, in a manner sensitive to their needs and concerns.

Safe and suitable moving and handling techniques are always used.

Transfer and moving equipment is used safely and correctly at all times.

Any unexpected change in the patient\’s condition during the transfer or move is reported promptly to the appropriate member of the care team.

Trained to fetch blood plasma and platelets from blood fridge and ensure they have the correct documentation and sign relevant paperwork when removing from fridge.

Trained to scrub all theatres at end of list with industrial machines.

Ensures all equipment is maintained and kept clean and ready for use.

Cleans and tidies the environment.
