Specialist Critical Care Rehab Dietitian
Join to apply for the Specialist Critical Care Rehab Dietitian role at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
Following a successful NIHR Award for the current postholder we are please to looking for a dietitian to work within our Critical care Dietetic team. This is a fixed term post, a secondment opportunity would also be considered.
The postholder will work as an senior specialised dietitian supporting the clinical lead in delivery of care for patients on the critical care unit and leading on provision of a dietetic service for rehabilitation. This may include the provision of on-going support for newly qualified dietitians and contribution to the work of the wider dietetic team at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM).
The post holder will work closely with the rehabilitation MDT within Critical Care to support optimisation of patientโs recovery. This is expected to include both audit and research.
The post holder will work with the clinical lead in critical care to continue to develop the role of the dietitian in line with Trust priorities.
The post holder will assess and treat a specialist caseload of patients and maintain associated records.
The post holder will be expected to support the clinical lead with service evaluation and student training within Critical Care and support leadership and service improvement initiatives within the Dietetics department.
Responsibilities
- To work towards the development of a new follow up MDT critical care clinic and development of a dietetic follow up service
- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team leading and providing dietetic input to patients in specialty and to liaise with other disciplines and agencies as required in the planning and implementation of patient care
- To provide highly complex nutrition counselling to patients and/or their carers requiring post registration cognitive behavioural therapy and use of reassurance and motivational skills to overcome barriers to change particularly where there is non-compliance
- To use negotiating and persuasive skills to facilitate effective service delivery within the specialty team.
- To liaise with dietitians within the critical care team and ensure overall prioritisation of workload within the team supporting other members as appropriate.
- To maintain lines of communication within the Directorate
- To actively participate in ward meetings, ward rounds, case conferences as appropriate.
- To liaise with and work as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, building and maintaining effective working relationships.
- To lead on the design, implementation and evaluation of multi-disciplinary protocols and procedures aimed at improving nutritional status
