Band 3 Medicines Management Assistant Officer – Cancer Services

An exciting new opportunity has arisen following investment by the Trust into Pharmacy Cancer Services.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Cancer Pharmacy Team to support and assist the supply of medication to this specialty.

Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy Senior Assistant Technical Officer will work at ward level, carrying out medicines management duties such as assessing patients\’ own medication for use, transferring medicines between wards when patients relocate, facilitating patient discharge, and ordering patient-specific medicines to reduce missed doses.

You will be based in the Cancer Centre Pharmacy at the Royal Stoke site. As a member of the Cancer Pharmacy Team, you will be integral to delivering high-quality pharmacy services to our patients.

You will support both in-patient and out-patient wards.

Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well-organized, able to work independently and as part of a team, adaptable to changing demands, accurate, able to work under pressure, and committed to providing a high-quality, patient-focused service.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

  • Support the pharmacy ward teams with principles and implementation of medicines optimisation.
  • Aim to understand the patient\’s experience.
  • Make evidence-based choices of medicines.
  • Ensure medicines use is as safe as possible.
  • Integrate medicines optimisation into routine practice.
  • Deliver a patient-centred service.

Full competency training will be provided to support your development.
