Arrhythmia Specialist Nurse role at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. The closing date is 04 November 2025.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Nurse to join Morecambe Bay Cardiology Services as an Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist for 4 days a week (30 hours).

The post will be based around one of our three main hospital sites. Work base can be negotiated at interview with options of Lancaster, Kendal or Barrow-in-Furness.

We cover a patient population across North Lancashire and the Southern Lake district.

Responsibilities

The Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist will work closely with the existing Arrhythmia team and a team of multidisciplinary staff within the Cardiology Directorate, including Consultant Cardiologists, Specialist Cardiology Nurse, Clinical Investigation Technicians and Cath Lab staff.

The successful candidate will be an expert nurse within cardiology; leading and developing practice in order to promote and provide high quality service throughout the patient pathway for patients and their families.

Provide and facilitate the delivery of highly specialised care for patients with arrhythmias. To include cardioversion lists, arrhythmia clinics, implantable loop recorder implantation and ECG monitor interpretation.

Be responsible for providing expert practice through leadership, consultation, clinical advice, teaching and support for staff. The post holder will work with clinical colleagues to provide information, advice and support to patients with complex arrhythmias.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
