We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Community Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy team in South Cumbria. You would be joining the team at an exciting time as we are in the process of integrating discharge to assess, supported discharge and community therapy services to form a wider team based in the community setting to provide a comprehensive quality service for our service users.

We are a multi-disciplinary team of Community Occupational Therapists, Community Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants based from WGH in Kendal.

Working closely with the Integrated Care Communities, local GP\’s, Adult Social Care, Rapid Response teams and hospital discharge teams we provide rehabilitation and admission avoidance within patients own homes or care settings and CHC assessments, supporting people with a wide variety of conditions including frailty and falls, amputees, neurological conditions, orthopaedics and long term conditions.

We support under-graduate clinical education to occupational therapy students on placement from the local universities.

The service hours are Monday – Friday 8am – 630pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am – 5pm

Working independently as an autonomous practitioner supporting occupational therapy pathways, providing therapeutic assessment, diagnosis, treatment and being responsible for managing a caseload of patients with a range of frequently complex conditions.

To regularly assist in the planning & delivery of team and departmental training and education sessions, to further professional and personal development for staff, working with the guidance and support of senior members of staff if required

We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

The team delivers a5 dayservice Monday to Friday. You will be expected to beable to travel across south Cumbria and beflexible for the needs of the service with some expectation to work across traditional boundaries. A broad experienceof deliveringrehabilitationis advantageous.

In addition to a comprehensive induction package we offer Team support, staff supervision and in-service training opportunities.
