Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Act as a professional and clinical role model to all staff, patients, carers and the public at all times.

    Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidence based care to a group of patients according to changing healthcare needs and varying levels of complexity.

    Act as a clinical resource, mentor / assessor / supervisor / preceptor of learners and staff as required

    Contribute to setting, maintaining and monitoring of standards of care to the optimum level and lead the improvement of care, through benchmarking, audit and research.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria

  • RGN – first level
  • Evidence of Post registration Educational development
  • Critical Care Nursing Qualification (or working towards for secondment)

Desirable criteria

  • Clinical Leadership Programme

  • Demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise in critical care
  • Good understanding of clinical governance
  • Ability to effectively problem solve
  • Change management, team building, communication and organisational skills

  • Experience of Patient and Public Involvement in Service Delivery

Experience

  • Experience of planning, implementing and evaluating staff training needs
  • Evidence of innovation and achievements in Clinical Practice

  • Use initiative and has the ability to lead and co-ordinate a multi disciplinary team with minimal supervision

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month\’s payment.

The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
