The Cardiac Rhythm Team is a supportive group of specialist nurses, clinical aides and clerical officer who deliver high quality services, support and education for patients experiencing arrhythmia. If you strive to deliver excellent patient care and enjoy working as part of a progressive, dynamic friendly and supportive team this opportunity is for you!

The cardiac rhythm specialist nurse role is a varied one and includes working in EP and devices pre assessment, ICD rehabilitation, diagnostic testing, ACP and specialist nurse cardioversion service, supporting inpatients and handling patient telephone/email helpline. We work closely with our EP ACP team, electrophysiologists and HF and device teams, inherited cardiac condition team and pacing and acute cardiology colleagues.

The team are supportive of each other and work closely together to provide the highest quality of care for our patients. Quality improvement is always on the agenda and all of the team’s input is invaluable in striving for continual improvement.

Training will be provided in order for the successful candidate to work within the following CRM services:

EP and devices and cardioversion pre assessment

Care of patients undergoing DC cardioversion

Supporting ICD patients throughout their ICD rehabilitation programme

Dealing with patient telephone helpline and email queries

Undertaking diagnostic testing (adenosine and ajmaline tests)

Undertaking post ablation telephone follow up

Supporting inpatients with varying arrhythmias and awaiting implantation of cardiac devices and/or ablations, Signposting patients to other healthcare providers, making necessary referrals to ensure a holistic approach to the ongoing care and management of a caseload of patients.

Providing education and teaching within the team and to services users.

Maintaining strong links with the MDT involved in providing care to patients within our services.

Supporting the team and the team lead/manager to ensure high quality progressive services are provided.

You will have appropriate and extensive cardiology or acute care experience incorporating cardiological care of the patient.

You will be a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be competent with a variety of IT systems.

You will have a highly professional attitude to care of patients with complex cardiology conditions and arrhythmias.
