Responsibilities
- Maintaining the highest clinical standards in the management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and utilise appropriately the available senior staff for advice.
- Participation in the 24 hour Emergency Department rota.
- Encouraged to complete work-based place assessments for their own development.
- Participation in ED specific teaching, training and support depending on career aspirations.
- Taking the role of Team Leader in the management of patients with major injury or illness within the department.
- Supervision of Junior Medical Staff and Emergency Nurse Practitioners including clinical work, time keeping and documentation.
- Teaching of Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and Emergency Nurse Practitioners in the clinical setting.
- Assist to maintain the flow of patients through the department.
- Be responsible for the management of the Emergency inpatients (Ward 101).
- Undertake other responsibilities by mutual agreement with the Consultants as part of continuing professional development and clinical governance.
- Opportunity to participate in Audit.
- Designated Educational Supervisor for the duration of the post.

This is a fixed-term, 12 month post. Any candidate who wishes to work less than full time will be considered and supported, taking into account service needs. The RDH Emergency Department currently operates over two areas – the emergency department and a Blue Urgent Treatment Centre to provide excellent care for the patients in our community.
