An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3, part time Healthcare Assistant in our multi speciality outpatient department to join our friendly team in Community Outpatients, we are currently looking for 2 part time posts, one of which will be based at Ilkeston Community Hospital, and the other based at St Oswalds hospital in Ashbourne, both posts carry a requirement to work at our other sites, Ripley, Heanor, Long Eaton & Ashbourne, when required to cover our activity.
As these vacancies are part time, 22.5 hours at Ilkeston, and 15 hours at St Oswalds, we will not be able to offer sponsorship.
Please note: if we receive a high number of applications for this position we reserve the right to withdraw the post before the closing date, therefore it is advisable that you apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
- Undertake clinical observations such as; blood pressure, heart rate and pulse oximetry
- Obtain demographic details and social history from patients/visitors to assist in the clinical process
- Promoting effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team and takes measures to overcome communication difficulties
- Contributing to the management of patients with challenging behaviours ensuring empathy, overcoming barriers and offering reassurance is provided in line with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas
- Prepare used linen bags for collection by porters and ensure adequate supply of linen bags/skips ready for use
- Maintenance of medical devices
- Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy
- Be familiar with Trust policy and procedure for reporting clinical incidents, reporting of incidents and near misses if they occur
- Attend to the needs of visitors and patients particularly those who may be distressed or bereaved
- Careful use of equipment
- Care for patients\’ property, including valuables, in accordance with Trust policy
- Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff and student learners
- Undertake a range of clerical duties in the absence of or, in support of, other colleagues to ensure a smooth-running service
