An opportunity has arisen to lead Derbyshire Pathology, one of the largest pathology departments in the NHS.
Derbyshire Pathology provides pathology services to Acute Trusts for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and Chesterfield Royal Hospital, along with associated community services. The department is hosted by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and operates laboratories at Derby, Burton, and Chesterfield.
Formed on 1st July 2018, Derbyshire Pathology delivers a range of services including Blood Sciences, Microbiology, Cellular Pathology, Phlebotomy, Mortuary, and Support Services, with over 630 staff and an annual budget of £58 million. As General Manager, you will lead the operational team, manage the joint venture, and develop strategic plans and performance frameworks to meet key activity and financial targets.
We seek an experienced senior leader with strong leadership qualities, a proven record in innovation, and successful change management. Supported by two Deputy General Managers, you will drive service integration, delivery, and lead key projects to maximize network opportunities. You will also represent Derbyshire Pathology in regional discussions alongside the Clinical Director to further develop pathology networks.
Effective communication, influencing, and negotiating skills at a senior level are essential. A successful track record in managing change and engaging with the pathology team is crucial.
This role offers experience working across organizations within a well-established network. Derbyshire Pathology is hosted by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, which provides comprehensive support services including HR, Finance, and IT.
