The vascular ultrasound team at the Royal Derby Hospital is looking to employ an SVT Accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist (AVS). This opportunity is for a Vascular Scientist to join our friendly and dynamic vascular ultrasound team. The vascular service supports a range of healthcare professionals across surgery, medicine, and diagnostics. We have 2 purpose-built ultrasound suites and a dedicated scan room in the TIA clinic, all spacious with air conditioning and PACS reporting stations.
Within the Vascular Service, you will work with 9 Vascular Consultant Surgeons and 3 Specialist Vascular Nurses. The Vascular Ultrasound Lab is part of a multidisciplinary department including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastric, and Neurophysiology, with up to 90 staff in total. Viewing of the department is encouraged. You will perform a wide range of vascular investigations, including carotid and temporal artery scans, upper and lower limb arterial and venous duplex scans, AAA and graft surveillance scans, as well as non-imaging tests such as ABPI. You will also provide teaching, audit, supervisory, and managerial support, with an emphasis on continuous professional development.
The service is expanding to provide vascular imaging to other hospitals within the Trust, which may involve cross-site working. The role includes some weekend on-call work on a rota basis to support the 7-day TIA service.
