This is an exciting opportunity to join our Oncology Team which includes Clinical Oncologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, chemotherapy nurses and radiographers. The Post-holder will have the opportunity to work across Acute Oncology Services, inpatient (ward 35), outpatient and day case environments, supported and supervised by consultant oncologists.

The appointee will support the Acute Oncology Service, the ward in-patient care and will contribute to the On Call rota for middle-grade doctors. The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover for MDTs (videoconferencing is available) and to liaise with the Acute Physicians/Emergency department as part of the supporting the Acute Nurse Led Oncology Service and when on call. Patients will be treated in both the Arden Cancer Centre on the UH site, the Maple Unit on the St Cross Hospital, Rugby and the Dorothea Unit at the George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton., This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary Oncology Team at the UHCW Coventry, ward 35 team and on-call consultants, registrars and ward SHOs. Further aspects of the role are negotiable and could be developed based on individual and service needs. The professional team includes Clinical and Medical Oncologists, Palliative Medicine physicians, Clinical Nurse Specialists, chemotherapy nurses, Therapy radiographers, Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy, discharge team.

The appointee will be expected to provide ongoing inpatient care of oncology patients at UHCW as part of the wider inpatient oncology team. In additional to the oncology workforce, they will be expected, when patient care necessitates it, to interact with health professionals in other departments around the hospital and the wider members of the multidisciplinary team. Furthermore, the post holder will be required to undertake administrative duties directly associated with the care of patients and, once confident and assessed as competent, will be expected to supervise junior medical staff. For management purposes and the use of resources, the post holder will be accountable to the Lead Clinician or a nominated clinical consultant.

Specifically, they will:

· The appointee, under consultant supervision, will take ongoing responsibility for patients under his/her care within ward 35, the Acute Oncology assessment bay, outpatient and day case environments.

· The appointee will be required to supervise junior medical staff and have responsibility for providing continuing patient care.

· Work for part of the working week in Day Units and clinics on the University Hospital (Coventry) site.

· Liaise and work with allied health professionals and technical staff, other departments and wider members of the multidisciplinary team.

· Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a site specialised, evidence-based service, treating according to departmental protocols.

· Undertake administrative duties directly related to patient care.

· Under the supervision of consultant colleagues, contribute to the supervision of more junior medical staff where appropriate.

· Contribute fully to audit, governance and risk management structures within the Specialties, including participating in audit related to their area of clinical interest.

· Attend specified multidisciplinary meetings (in person or remotely) to present patients and enable personal development.

· Meet the national requirements for Continuing Professional Development and Revalidation and fully engage with the Trust appraisal process.

· Deputise in the absence of colleagues.

· Participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.

· Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers.

· Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures.
