We are looking to appoint a Consultant Ophthalmologist with an Interest in Medical Retina to join the Ophthalmology team at UHCW NHS Trust. The post holder will actively provide and support the further development of excellent ophthalmology services for the Trust, working in collaboration with clinical colleagues in all disciplines to provide an integrated service for patients.
This post is principally aligned to the Medical Retina service along with three other medical retina specialists. The post will be for 10 programmed activities per week, giving adequate time for SPA duties. The department has a regular commitment to audit, with 10 sessions per year committed to audit and clinical governance. Teaching is an integral part of the unit, with junior doctors, medical students, orthoptic and optometry students rotating through the department. The applicant will be expected to participate in seminars and lectures for medical students, junior doctors and other professional or lay groups with health interests. The current on-call rota is 1 in 14, third on call.
Main duties of the job:
- To work as a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a Specialty Interest in Medical Retina in the Ophthalmology Department working across a large multi-disciplinary department providing outpatient, surgical and emergency services at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire and St Cross Hospital, Rugby.
- To actively provide and support the further development of first-class ophthalmology services for the Trust, working in collaboration with clinical colleagues in all disciplines to provide an integrated service for patients.
- The post will be for 10 programmed activities per week, giving adequate time for SPA duties.
- In addition, the post also has one session in the acute eye clinic and one general clinic to support the routine general ophthalmic service.
