We are recognized as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, providing services to nearly 700,000 adult patients annually. The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, burns & plastics and has the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe.

It is among the most consistently high-performing trusts in the NHS and has received an excellent rating for both financial management and quality of clinical and non-clinical services by the Care Quality Commission.

The Trust offers traditional secondary care services to the South, Central, and East Birmingham catchment area. It also provides specialist tertiary care across the West Midlands, with some activity referred from outside the region.

The Stroke Medicine department has undergone regional reconfiguration, making UHB one of the largest units in the country with approximately 1,600 stroke admissions annually through the HASU at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The department is an active thrombolysis centre with strong research links and a thrombectomy service for acute ischemic stroke. The role may include shared care of the stroke rehabilitation ward at Moseley Hall Hospital or work in the Acute Stroke Unit at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
