As a Trust, we invest in our applicants by ensuring you have a full induction to the Trust, ongoing training and development. Initially, you will complete the Care Certificate; once completed, you will be processed to a Band 3, if you have not already achieved this, which will give you access to colleagues and our School of Nursing to support and guide your career aspirations.

The Healthcare Assistant role is the first step on a career ladder that could lead to future opportunities in nursing, such as our well-established Trainee Nursing Associate programme. Our team has shared what they need from their employer, and we\’ve listened.

If you are looking for hours to fit around your family or lifestyle, which may not align with the traditional 5 out of 7 days, most areas offer 12.5-hour shifts, 3 or 4 days a week, including days, nights, and weekends, providing more days off.

Your workload as a HCA will be varied and sometimes challenging. Being able to multi-task efficiently while maintaining a caring and helpful attitude will support your work and make a difference to your team and the patients and relatives who rely on us.

Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential. Your role will include:

  1. Greeting all patients and visitors with courtesy and compassion.
  2. Observing and reporting any changes in a patient\’s condition to the registered nurse.
  3. Supporting families and carers following a patient bereavement or sharing bad news.
  4. Providing personal care to patients, assisting when in pain or distressed.
  5. Helping patients with feeding and drinking and maintaining patient notes.

Candidates should have a good standard of Maths and English, GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent.
