The Skills for Practice (SfP) team is responsible for delivering medical and healthcare education to staff and students at UHS. We are looking for the right person to join our team in the role of Technician.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
ABOUT THE TEAM – As a technician you would be an essential member of the SfP Team; a small and friendly group of nurses, AHPs and support staff working within the South Academic Block. Besides teaching and training, we are also responsible for a large number of teaching rooms and resources, including the simulation suite (SimCentre) and a large stock of clinical skills equipment. Almost all training and courses are run within normal office hours, although very occasionally, some out-of-hours work is necessary. Your day-to-day work as part of a small team of technicians, would include extensive interactions with a diverse range of people.
You will become an integral part of a much broader education team at UHS. The job also involves working across organisations. There is extensive liaison and partnership working with the University of Southampton, together with support and co‑ordination with our colleagues at other NHS Trusts in the Wessex Area.
What You’ll Do
- Be responsible for providing technical support to staff and students using Skills for Practice rooms and resources.
- Be responsible for maintenance of equipment and stocks of consumables.
- Assist with appropriate set-up and clear‑down of teaching rooms.
- Work to develop the use and function of the new simulation suite.

Essential criteria
- Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in health, social care or leadership and management subject.
