Main duties of the job We seek a part-time (0.8 WTE) Clinical Psychologist for 12 months to provide psychological input to Paediatric Oncology, Haematology, and General Paediatrics at Southampton Children’s Hospital. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The role involves assessing and providing therapy to children and families dealing with cancer and leukaemia, including those in follow-up care. You will collaborate with psychologists and the wider psychosocial team, offering psychological advice, support, and consultation to children, families, hospital staff, and local services. Experience working with children and families in paediatric settings and a collaborative approach are essential. Person specification Trust Values Always Improving Working Together Qualifications, knowledge, and experience Postgraduate doctoral training in Clinical Psychology, accredited by the Health Professions Council Experience assessing and working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in various settings Experience working in an acute paediatric setting or with children facing loss, bereavement, or severe illness Experience managing children who have difficulty with medical procedures Experience conducting neuropsychological assessments with children and young people Post-doctoral training in psychological assessment and treatment of children with acute or chronic illnesses, including training in restraint (e.g., SCIP) Please note that the vacancy may close early if sufficient applications are received.
