We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Games Arts to join our outstanding team of educators, practitioners and researchers. The Farnham School of Creative and Cultural Industries is a vibrant community of students, academic teaching staff, researchers and industry specialists, working together to create innovative games and creative technologies practice and research. Central to the School's ethos is the combination of high-quality teaching, leading research and vibrant knowledge exchange with industry partners.

The School has strong relationships with the games sector as well as a dedicated Games Incubator to support students in developing creative IP. Over the last few years, the School has attracted over £3M of additional funding to support facilities, research and knowledge exchange, resulting in exciting industry-facing collaborations. Alongside industry-standard games laboratories, the School boasts specialist facilities including motion capture and virtual production studios.

The role will be based at the Farnham campus, just outside Guildford, and will report directly to the School's Programme Director for Games. UCA is seeking to recruit a dynamic and innovative educator with specialist expertise in Games Art. We are looking for a candidate who will ideally have professional experience within the games industry together with experience of teaching in higher education, including curriculum development aligned with contemporary industry practice.

As Lecturer in Games Arts, you will have proven knowledge and experience of the early stages of the game art production pipeline, with particular expertise in concept art, visual development and 2D digital art. You will be confident teaching visual research, ideation, character design, environment design, prop design, composition, colour and lighting, while helping students understand how concept artwork informs the wider games production process. Experience of contemporary digital art software, including Photoshop and related industry-standard tools, is essential. Knowledge of later stages of the games art pipeline, including 3D modelling, texturing and implementation within game engines, would be advantageous.

You will play a key role in delivering game art skills to students, principally on the BA (Hons) Games Arts and BA (Hons) Games Design degrees. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of games artists through your creativity, artistic practice and professional expertise, contributing to the continued success of one of the UK's leading specialist creative institutions.

You will have a good honours degree, ideally supported by a postgraduate qualification, together with significant professional experience and an up-to-date understanding of contemporary developments in games art and the wider creative industries. At UCA, creativity and innovation are at the heart of what we do. Our legacy of educating eager and passionate artists, makers and thinkers spans almost 160 years, and today we're helping shape a global future that supports and nurtures creative talent worldwide.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent team-working, organisational and communication skills. Teaching responsibilities will include all associated course administration, assessment and student support, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute proactively to curriculum enhancement and innovative approaches to learning and teaching. You will also participate in marketing and student recruitment activities, collaborate across interdisciplinary projects and have the opportunity to engage in professional practice, research and knowledge exchange.

Are you ready to share your passion for creativity with the next generation of games developers? If so, we want to hear from you.
