Following significant investment into the area of Games and Creative Technology, we are seeking to make further appointments to enhance our portfolio and drive forward our strategic vision. The role will be based at the Farnham campus, just outside Guildford and will directly report to the school Programme Director for Comic and Concept Art.
UCA is seeking to recruit dynamic and innovative educators and we are seeking a candidate who will ideally have industry experience of working in the fields of Comic and Concept Art, and experience of working in higher education student facing delivery, including curriculum design aligned to contemporary practice.
The position will be complimenting and enhancing the existing delivery of Comic Concept Art workflows to students on Comic & Concept Art courses. Teaching contemporary skills, techniques and workflows relating to the Games industry and Comic and Concept Art industries. From delivering art fundamentals to advanced workflows, you will work as part of a dedicated Comic and Concept Art team focused on achieving exemplary student outcomes.
You will be conversant in a range of 2D and 3D industry facing digital creation software packages, that will lead the learner to achieve excellent industry aligned outcomes and the construction of a dynamic engaging portfolio.
We are particularly looking for academics/ artists that have experience in the following areas taught at UCA:
- Advanced fundamental art skills such as composition, perspective, colour theory, lighting, anatomy, architecture, texture, and painting.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of Photoshop
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of Blender
- Advanced understanding of visual storytelling and sequential narrative development

You must be able to demonstrate good team working abilities, as well as good organisational and communication skills. The teaching duties will include all related course administration and require the successful candidate to be pro-active in developing new learning and teaching methods. You will also be required to participate in marketing and student recruitment activities and to potentially engage in professional research in the subject area.
