About us
UCL Careers supports students, graduates and staff to explore their career options, develop their skills and prepare for their futures. As part of UCL’s Higher Education Development & Support Institute (HEDS), we work collaboratively with academic departments, employers and alumni to enhance the student experience and strengthen graduate outcomes.
Our SLASH/IOE team supports four faculties: Arts & Humanities, Social & Historical Sciences, Laws and the UCL Institute of Education. Together, these faculties are home to around 18,000 students across a diverse range of disciplines. We work closely with colleagues across UCL to ensure students can access meaningful opportunities to explore different industries, develop workplace skills and prepare for life beyond university.
About the role
We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Work Related Learning Officer to join our SLASH/IOE team on a maternity cover basis from January to December 2027. Working closely with the Work Related Learning Manager, you will help develop and deliver an engaging programme of activities that connects students with employers, alumni and the world of work.
This varied role will see you coordinate a diverse programme of experiential learning opportunities, including careers and skills workshops, employer-set projects, hackathons, networking events and employer visits. You will build and maintain relationships with academic colleagues, employers, alumni and professional bodies, while proactively identifying new opportunities to enrich our provision and respond to changing labour market trends.
You will play a key role in planning and administering activities, coordinating delivery partners, monitoring student engagement and gathering feedback to help evaluate and continuously improve the programme. You will also create engaging promotional content to drive participation across the faculties.
Working collaboratively with Careers Consultants and colleagues across UCL Careers, you will help ensure activities complement existing careers provision and respond to the diverse needs and backgrounds of our students. You will report on the outcomes of your work and support the Work Related Learning Manager in the evaluation of the programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the student experience, helping UCL students develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to shape their future careers.
Please note, this is a fixed-term maternity cover role available from January - December 2027. The role offers hybrid working with a minimum of 2-days per week onsite at our Bloomsbury office (subject to change). This role does not meet the requirements for a Skilled Worker visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require a right to work in the UK
