About usBased within the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences in UCL’s Faculty of Brain Sciences, the Department of Linguistics brings together theoretical, experimental and computational approaches to the study of language, and has a track record of innovative and excellent research in formal theoretical linguistics and the cognitive science of language. The Division is ranked fifth in the world for psychology in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, and UCL is ranked joint eighth in the QS World University Rankings.About the roleThe postholder will deliver and develop teaching in computational linguistics, while also undertaking original research and publication, master’s student supervision in areas related to their research expertise, contributions to doctoral supervision where appropriate, and academic service. They will teach the existing Introduction to Computational Linguistics and Advanced Computational Linguistics modules on the MA Linguistics with a Specialisation in Computational Linguistics. They will also design Foundations of Maths and Programming for Computational Linguistics for the same postgraduate programme and teach it from 2027–28.This is a fixed-term role for two years from the start date.The salary range is from Grade 8, SP 40 - 42 (56,431 - 59,571 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance).This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation.
