The Cultural and Community Engagement team plays a key role in publicising research, hosting events and building relationships with local communities.

About the role

We are looking for a Communications Assistant apprentice at UCL East to support the Cultural and Community Engagement team in planning and executing communications activities.

The role includes content development, social media, press releases, event support and improving engagement across our channels.

Responsibilities

  • Attend project planning meetings and contribute to communication plans.
  • Develop written and non‑written content and coordinate its publication across our channels.
  • Update the website and intranet pages, ensuring accuracy.
  • Research, analyse and monitor audiences and stakeholders to inform engagement strategies.
  • Create ticket ordering forms using Eventbrite and manage accessibility requests.
  • Maintain mailing lists and databases; monitor shared mailboxes for enquiry responses.
  • Ensure accessibility across all communication activities.
  • Adopt UCL brand guidelines and embed brand values in communications.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and event management plans to mitigate reputational risk.
  • Support procurement, briefing and payment of freelancers and contractors.
  • Analyse and evaluate communication activities and report findings.
  • Assist with routine administrative, logistical and time‑sensitive tasks.
  • Help plan, deliver and evaluate events such as press launches, exhibitions, viewings, award ceremonies, training workshops and other public events.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion across all work.
  • Engage in personal and professional development, including apprenticeship training.
  • Follow UCL Ways of Working and complete any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications
