We are looking for a dynamic and motivated physiotherapist with excellent communication skills and an innovative and flexible approach. You must be a team player with a broad range of Band 5 experience and significant experience within the NHS. This role would provide you with an excellent opportunity to consolidate your knowledge and gain new clinical and leadership skills.

The current rotations include:

  • Cancer Therapies – including Macmillan Cancer Centre (Teenage and Young Adult Unit) and Haematology
  • Acute Medicine - ED and AMU
  • Inpatient Medicine - Care of the Elderly and Clinical Pharmacology
  • Respiratory Medicine - Inpatients and Outpatients
  • Surgery - Head and Neck Surgery, Gynae Surgery and Thoracic and Urology Surgery (Westmoreland Street Hospital)
  • Critical Care – UCH and Grafton Way Building

We have a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement and provide regular supervision and in-service training.

Main duties of the job:

  • This post participates in an 8-9 month rotation scheme.
  • All rotations are supported by a Team Lead Physiotherapist and/or Clinical Lead.
  • To perform advanced physiotherapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, psychological and emotional conditions.
  • To provide a diagnosis, develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme in discussion with the patient and according to assessment findings.
  • To provide experienced advice, guidance and information to patients, carers and other professionals.
  • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, including taking responsibility for caseload management in a defined area of the service and seeking support where necessary from senior staff.
  • To engage with the MDT in a defined area and represent therapies as required.
  • To be an integral member of a team assuming delegated responsibilities for supervision, assessment and education of students, Band 5’s and assistant members of staff.
  • To undertake evidence rotational projects to develop and enhance personal, team and departmental clinical practice.
  • To undertake on-call and weekend duties as an autonomous practitioner, working without supervision and to support the introduction of flexible working patterns if deemed necessary by the service manager.
  • To participate in 7-day services rota where appropriate.
