The Domestic Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across UCLH facilities. The role involves overseeing daily cleaning operations, coordinating domestic staff, and ensuring all tasks meet required hygiene and infection-control standards. You'll monitor performance, provide guidance, and support staff development through hands-on training and ongoing supervision. The position also includes managing stock levels, ordering consumables, and ensuring equipment is available and well maintained. Working closely with management, you'll assist with recruitment, induction, and competency assessments to build a capable and motivated team. Strong communication, organisation, and attention to detail are essential, as you'll help maintain high-quality service delivery in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Main duties of the job:

  • Supervise domestic staff across designated areas, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection-control are consistently achieved.
  • Allocate daily tasks, monitor performance, and provide clear guidance, coaching, and support to maintain an effective and motivated team.
  • Manage staff absences, including recording, monitoring patterns, arranging appropriate cover, and escalating concerns in line with UCLH policies.
  • Assist with recruitment activities such as shortlisting, interviewing, and supporting new starters through induction and competency training.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete audits, and report issues promptly to senior management.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels by ordering and distributing consumables, monitoring usage, and maintaining equipment readiness.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to respond to service needs, resolve issues, and support a safe patient environment.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the domestic services team.
