The NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility UCLH is a well-established Clinical Research Facility (CRF) covering two sites. The Leonard Wolfson Experimental Neurology Centre is a dedicated neuroscience experimental medicine facility at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) at Queen Square (QS); and the NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility is a comprehensive Cancer and Medical research facility on the Bloomsbury campus (BC) at Tottenham Court Road.
We are looking to recruit a self-motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Management Accountant to work in the CRF and be specifically responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of clinical trials in the CRF.
This post holder is responsible for assisting in the costing, and business support for the CRF’s commercial and non-commercial research studies in collaboration with industrial partners; and to provide financial information and advice to investigators and CRF management, under the line management of CRF Finance Manager.
Assistant Cost Accountant will be required to work independently in ensuring that best practice & principles are maintained. Will critically evaluate work within their area and implement improvements were necessary. This role will work closely with R&D Management Accounting team and provide an excellent service support for the setting up of studies and the continued financial management of the studies.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has risen within the CRF finance team to join as an Assistant Management Accountant to provide a comprehensive financial management support to the Clinical Research Facility.
We are looking for a highly motivated, committed and reliable individual with experience of working within a Finance department. You will be:
- Technically competent
- Have great attention to detail abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Experienced in Accounting packages – Oracle
- Microsoft skills such as – Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to work in partnership with a broad range of stakeholders including clinicians.
- Proven ability to analyse complex data and translate into meaningful financial reports.
- First degree or studying towards CCAB/CIMA/ ACCA professional Accountancy qualification.
Reporting to and supervised by CRF Finance Manager, Assistant Management Accountant will provide costing and management accounting support to CRF and Principal Investigators in commercial and non-commercial studies, grants applications and other ad hoc requests.
Raise purchase orders though UCLH finance systems as required for external purchases associated with the CRF and follow up on these as needed, and assist with ordering, purchase & maintenance of office equipment, supplies and stationery when required.

The post holder will be based at UCLH CRF based across two CRF sites as required and based on needs.
Ensure that any internal recharges required are carried out on schedule and together with the JRO finance teams, maintain / update the Trust’s General Ledger system to accurately reflect the financial position of the CRF.
Support CRF Finance Manager in all aspects of financial management, including preparation of planning and reports and optimization of budgets and resources.

- Studying towards a CCAB/CIMA/ACCA Professional Accountancy qualification or first degree/equivalent
- Knowledge of financial process & Practices gained through practical experience
Experience
