Coping with a cancer diagnosis or complex haematology treatment is challenging, and for some patients, it also brings financial worries and unforeseen costs. We are seeking a dedicated professional to assist patients and their carers in understanding their entitlements and accessing financial support, enabling them to focus on their treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide specialist benefits advice and advocacy within an organization such as the NHS, Citizens Advice, or similar.
  2. Maintain relevant recent training and experience in client-centered benefits advice, with a general knowledge of housing, employment, and consumer law.
  3. Represent clients at tribunals and support them through the review process.
  4. Assess patients\’ welfare and benefits needs through face-to-face meetings, MS Teams, or phone consultations.
  5. Assist with benefit applications, mandatory reconsiderations, and tribunal packs.
  6. Communicate with multiple agencies and maintain accurate documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in providing specialist benefits advice and advocacy.
  • Recent training relevant to benefits advice work.
  • Good understanding of housing, employment, and consumer law.
  • Experience of tribunal representation.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.

Location:

UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, Huntley Street, London WC1E 6DH.

Additional Information:

Work will involve supporting in-patients and out-patients with diagnoses such as cancer, sickle cell disease, and thalassaemia.
