Coping with a cancer diagnosis or complex haematology treatment is challenging, and for some patients, it also brings financial worries and unforeseen costs. We are seeking a dedicated professional to assist patients and their carers in understanding their entitlements and accessing financial support, enabling them to focus on their treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist benefits advice and advocacy within an organization such as the NHS, Citizens Advice, or similar.
- Maintain relevant recent training and experience in client-centered benefits advice, with a general knowledge of housing, employment, and consumer law.
- Represent clients at tribunals and support them through the review process.
- Assess patients\’ welfare and benefits needs through face-to-face meetings, MS Teams, or phone consultations.
- Assist with benefit applications, mandatory reconsiderations, and tribunal packs.
- Communicate with multiple agencies and maintain accurate documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in providing specialist benefits advice and advocacy.
- Recent training relevant to benefits advice work.
- Good understanding of housing, employment, and consumer law.
- Experience of tribunal representation.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.

UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, Huntley Street, London WC1E 6DH.
Additional Information:
Work will involve supporting in-patients and out-patients with diagnoses such as cancer, sickle cell disease, and thalassaemia.
