An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated registrar level doctor with experience in diabetes & endocrinology to join our team. The applicant will have excellent communication, team and clinical skills to join the Diabetes & Endocrinology Team.
This post is a Specialist Registrar level and the post holder will work closely with the Consultants, Specialist Registrars, Nurses and other multidisciplinary team members. In addition the successful applicant will play an important role in the delivery of effective care and management of outpatients and inpatients with endocrine disorders.
Main duties of the job
There is no on call commitment. Whilst this post is not formally recognised for training, it offers an excellent opportunity to gain skills and experience in endocrinology and diabetes. Active educational support tailored to the individuals\’ experience and needs will be provided through an assigned educational supervisor.

Person specification
Professional Qualifications
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
- MB BS, or equivalent
- MRCP, or equivalent
Clinical Experience
- Demonstrate a satisfactory training history in general medicine
- Evidence of achievement of CT2 competencies or equivalent
- Demonstrate evidence of achievement of at least ST3/4 competencies or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Working in a tertiary diabetes and endocrine centre
Clinical Skills
- Comprehensive clinical training in General Medical conditions, General
- Sound basic clinical skills including history taking, clinical examination and appropriate investigation.
- Ability to make and implement management plans and clinical protocols.
- Ability to maintain a high quality clinical records.
- Personal management skills including time management and managing paperwork satisfactorily.
Audit
- Good IT skills
- Clinical Audit experience
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance framework of NHS
Research. Teaching skill & experience
- Enthusiasm for teaching junior staff within the specialty.
- Demonstrable experience of teaching junior medical staff.
- Ability to carry out research
Personal Qualities
- Communication [ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate and problem solve.
- Accountability [ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and exert appropriate authority]
