Vacancy: Locum Consultant Surgeon – Endocrine and General Surgery
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Consultant Surgeon to join an established Endocrine Surgery team within the GI Services Division of the Surgery & Cancer Board.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver dedicated general surgery operating lists to reduce waiting times and contribute directly to RTT recovery and clearance of long‑wait patients (>18 weeks).
- Support the Endocrine Surgery service to bridge activity delivery between 40–52 weeks, ensuring compliance with national standards and improving patient access.
- Provide weekday theatre backfill and additional operating capacity for endocrine surgical activity, working closely with consultant colleagues.
- Contribute to the General Surgery on‑call rota.
- Uphold the highest standards of clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement.
- Participate in teaching and supervision of surgical trainees, audit activity, and broader departmental development.
- Applicants must hold full GMC registration and be on (or within six months of entry to) the Specialist Register in General Surgery.
- Candidates should demonstrate independent laparoscopic practice, broad general surgery capability and a commitment to teamwork and education.
